Franklin — Police continued Tuesday to seek clues about what happened to air-conditioning units missing from 15 flood-damaged homes.

The thefts occurred in June 2008 or later along streets southeast of U.S. 31 and Ind. 44. City mowing crews first noticed the missing units while working in the neighborhood, according to a Police Department news release.

Deputy Police Chief Tim O’Sullivan says the thefts could have happened months ago, but no one was at the homes to notice and call police, according to The Associated Press.

City officials have been working with homeowners and the Federal Emergency Management Agency on a buyout.
