You can help keep Indianapolis beautiful. Here's how.
The following information is brought to you by Keep Indianapolis Beautiful.
1. Plant a tree
Neighborhoods or community organizations can receive 20+ trees to plant along residential streets or in public spaces as part of NeighborWoods. KIB will help you organize your planting.
- Contact: Andrew Hart, (317) 264-7555, ext. 110
2. Adopt-A-Median
This simply requires that your neighborhood association, business or organization takes the time to care for the median you adopt. In exchange, your organization name will be displayed prominently on median signage.
- Contact: Mark Adler, madler@kibi.org, (317) 264-7555, ext. 105
3. Organize a neighborhood litter cleanup
Litter can harm children, animals and the environment. Research also shows strong links between litter and crime. Organizing a neighborhood cleanup helps make Indianapolis cleaner, safer and more beautiful.
- Contact: Tammy Stevens, tstevens@kibi.org, (317) 264-7555, ext. 116
4. Make a tax-deductible donation
KIB strives to assist communities, many with scarce resources. As a nonprofit, KIB’s projects wouldn’t be possible without the generosity of committed individuals, businesses and organizations. Donations may be monetary or in-kind contributions, such as supplies of mulch, plants or other equipment.
- Contact: Beth Kloote, bkloote@kibi.org, (317) 264-7555 ext. 107
5. Order trash boxes and recycling bins
Keep your event litter-free with KIB’s trash box program. Through a partnership with WTHR, KIB provides trash boxes and for only $3.50 each. Recycling bins are loaned free of charge.
- Contact: Laura Fox, lfox@kibi.org, (317) 264-7555, ext. 100
6. Create a park in your neighborhood
Through IPL Project Greenspace, KIB can help you transform a barren space into a pocket park or community garden. Such spaces enhance community aesthetics while improving neighborhood safety and livability.
- Contact: Phil Schaefer, pschaefer@kibi.org, (317) 264-7555, ext. 109
7. Recycle
Help conserve our natural resources. As you run errands, look for the large green Recycle Indianapolis “Drop-Off” containers placed around the city – they’re free to use.

8. Volunteer
