Funding for youth-led environmental projects is still available through the Carmel Green Teen Micro-Grant Program. Fall applications are due October 15, 2009.

Projects must be created and implemented by young people age 18 and under, and take place in Carmel or Clay Township. Green project ideas, applications and details are available at CarmelGreenTeen.org.

School, scouting, religious, community service, and other not-for-profit youth groups are encouraged to apply now for Spring 2010 projects. Micro-grants of up to $1,000 are available until funds are exhausted.

In April 2009, the local Jane Goodall-based youth group Carmel Area Roots & Shoots (CAR&S) was awarded a $10,000 Green Heroes grant from Clorox Green Works to fund the Carmel Green Teen Micro-Grant Program. Adults from Carmel Green Initiative and United Way of Central Indiana’s Youth as Resources will assist CAR&S in administering the micro-grants.
