I hope food service will be better than how it sounds already.

I’ve been going to Dawson’s since they opened a few years ago. Very few places on the Westside as good as them. Great food & family owned.

Dawsons has done a few of our company luncheons and the food is AMAZING! The staff is helpful and the portions (I think) are huge. A friend keeps bugging me to go there in person and I will soon…come the month of May! This place is a must stop for those who will be in town for the races or want to get away from the busier restaurnts of downtown or N. side. Speedway was in dire need of a place such as Dawsons and the mgmt/staff certainly deliver. Make sure to check ’em out!

Dawson’s on Main is a great place for lunch during the week, drinks after work or casual dining in the evenings. The food there is always awesome! I recommend the wedge salad and signature soup for lunch. You have to get their Ribs, Prime Rib or Pork Chops for dinner. Dawsons location is very convenient for folks living on the west side … especially Avon and the burg.
I frequent the place often and love when I walk in the bar and the bartenders (Ron & William) know what I drink. Vodaka, Blue Moon or bottle beer .. they always ask! The staff definitely knows their regulars! Dawson’s also does great food for office parties and events.
Prefer eating and drinking in the bar area with my buddies and friends. If you got the kids with you ..their giant booths are the place to sit. I recommend Dawson’s for a great time in a very casual dining atmosphere. Service is always good and staff is friendly.

I love Dawsons! It is a great place to go with friends and family and just visit. I like a social atmosphere so we usually sit in the bar where the bartenders and management make it a point to make us feel welcome everytime we come in. They remember us too. It is a great central location where we can all gather without driving far away. The portions are perfect, the drinks are made by professionals, and the service is always with a smile. This is what makes a restaurant truly great!

I frequent Dawson’s, usually at least once a week. I have had birthday parties there, lunch/dinner with friends, and business functions as well. Everyone has always agreed that the food, atmosphere, and service is great. I would have to say that hands-down without a doubt Dawson’s is one of my favorite places to dine. I would recommend this place to everyone that I know. As a matter of fact….I have!!!!

I have been going to Dawson’s since their opening weekend and have always enjoyed my time spent in Dawson’s. I have had almost everything on the menu and I can honestly say that I have never had a bad meal. My lunches and/or dinners have never been anything less than perfection. Dawson’s seems to strive to offer their customers with prompt service and excellent meals. The server’s are always friendly, whether you sit in the dining area or bar I don’t believe you could leave feeling disappointed in the service and/or food. As for the atmosphere it is excellent. You will find people of all ages having a wonderful time and all talking and enjoying one another’s company. As for the people who believe the menu is small they probably have not been their enough and/or did not take the time to see that Dawson’s has a separate lunch and dinner menu as well as special menu’s on the holidays (Mother’s day, Easter, etc.) Also they run daily lunch and dinner specials, along with drink specials. They also have a late night menu on Friday and Saturday nights. If you enjoy music they also have a couple different types of musicians that come and play throughout the month. I have one last thing to add, privately owned restaurants are so much more than any franchise. Who wants to go somewhere where everything is the same from one town, county, or state for that matter, I know I don’t.

This is one of the best restaurants in town! I have eaten at Dawson’s many, many times, and always have wonderful service—Never Any Problems. The food is spectacular and the proportions are very large. Also, I enjoy the fact that they have different food and drink specials throughout the week. The atmosphere is always up-beat, especially when they have a band performing in the bar area. I would definetely recommend this restaurant to anyone!!

I get really excited when I discover little restraunts like Dawson’s. It’s the perfect little secret in Speedway. My company orders carry out for all of our meetings from them.(I actually look forward to meetings!-That’s how good it is.) Unlike some of the other reviews I’ve never had a bad experience with the service/mngmt. Food is great, fresh, and the atmosphere is unique and artsy. I have recommended this place to friends and family and so far no complaints. I’m actually taking my fiance there tonight!

When compared to other restaurants in Speedway, this one is impressive. If you happen to leave Speedway’s friendly confines, then you may be less impressed. As mentioned in other reviews, the menu is surprisingly small. They do offer some nice beers, including revolving seasonals. I hope this restaurant continues to get better and can somehow jumpstart the emergence of a downtown Speedway corridor.

I as well have had reservation issues here but I have never had a bad experience. The service is average but fun. Last time I dined here I was with a group of 8, we sat in the bar, drank heavily and had a blast. The waiter walked up to the table in jeans and a colts jersey and proceeded to do shots with us. I love independently owned restaurants!!!!!! The food was prepared well and the presentation was nice. It’s a steakhouse in Speedway, not a 5 star dining giant in down town Indy. Give them some slack.

Dawson’s is a really good restaurant. My husband and I go there frequently and have always had very good food and friendly and efficient service. I do agree that reservations for two people should be taken. Limiting reservations to large parties is restrictive and discriminates against smaller groups. We have recommended Dawson’s to many people and all have thanked us after they went. This is a wonderful addition to the old Speedway neighborhood.

I am almost glad to hearing everyone saying to stay away from this place. The service is great and they have good food as well. They give you much larger portions for the price than most places. You do have to call ahead for reservations because this has become such a popular place on Friday and Saturday nights. Best times to go are early in the week when the crowd is smaller. I ate there last night and had a great meal and enjoyed the great atmoshpere. So all of those bashing this place go ahead and stay away….it makes more room for all of us who enjoy this place so much.

The only bad thing is the parking. Main street doesn’t have much for parling yet. The restaurant has some interesting ideas for decor, like the original floor. The bar could be designed better, but it is serviceable. The bar is full service and they do make good drinks that are fair priced here. The owners are nice and will take time to visit tables and make small talk about the restaurant. Chef Hef, AKA Hefty, is a colorful character who will entertain you when he’s behind the bar. They do have a limited selection on the menu, but it is well prepared. The portions are good sized and the prices are lower than they could be for the quality served. I like steaks and they have never mis-cooked my order. The service is prompt and professional, it does get noisy when there is a crowd, but that’s any restaurant in an old strip mall.

Friend, don’t waste your time or money. The handsome guy above has described this place in a nut shell. It’s definitely a wanna be.

A couple of weeks ago I stopped by this establishment and made a reservation for Friday night. The owner/manager(?) informed me they didn’t let parties of two make reservations but he would put me on a preferred list. I watched him write my name on the list. The next night when we came at the time we were to be there I was informed I needed to wait for a table to clear up. As I looked into the diner I noticed there were only about a half a dozen tables with people eating at them and about eight tables empty. I also noticed there were three table empty in the bar room area. When I asked why we couldn’t be seated at any of these tables I was told that parties of two could only eat at tables for two. A four topper or a six topper would be wasted if they sat a party of two at them. I asked to see the manager and I was told I would have to wait. I inquired why I needed to wait to see a manager seeing she wasn’t doing anything and she would only say well because. I did call later to talk to the manager only to find out they supposedly do seat parties of two at four toppers but the manager didn’t offer an apology or anything which would indicate she was sorry for the misunderstanding. Poor service, Poor management!!!!

it has a nice atmosphere but there is a limited selection of food. The service is pretty good – if you go there enough they often remember you. We have had office parties there – appetizers are a hit – again limited selection but most people seem to like them. I always get a salad and french fried but I am a picky eater.

I love that they have put a place like this in downtown speedway! The food is just o.k I have eaten here three times and have not been overly impressed with anything that I ate. It is simply just o.k.
